The brief
Maersk Drilling required a rig naming ceremony in Invergordon — a high-profile corporate occasion involving senior executives, VIP guests and multiple specialist suppliers, staged around the newly named rig itself. The brief spanned venue coordination, hospitality, catering, AV, production, accommodation, entertainment and logistics.
A high-profile occasion
Events built around senior executives and VIP guests carry a different kind of pressure to a standard corporate event: timings matter more, guest experience has to be right first time, and there is very little room to solve problems visibly on the day. The ceremony itself had to work as a formal occasion while the surrounding hospitality and logistics operated seamlessly around it.
Coordinating multiple specialist suppliers
With catering, AV, production, accommodation and entertainment all required for a single occasion, the practical challenge was less about any one supplier and more about keeping all of them aligned to the same schedule, the same site and the same guest experience — particularly given the shipyard setting, which is not a conventional event venue.
What made it work
